I almost didn't want to provide a review as I wanted to keep Dalmunzie Castle as our wee secret, but praise where praise is due ... Dalmunzie Castle was almost exactly what I'd hoped it would be. An old country house/castle beautifully brought up to modern standards while retaining the charm of its older features. The tower bedroom was magnificent with amazing views on three sides and it had the best bath I've used in years! There is so much charm about the hotel that getting lost on our first trip from our room to the bar was a genuine delight! Dinner was fantastic (the venison was excellent) with a choice of a formal menu or great pub food and there was a fine highland breakfast too. You know how some places say they are Dog Friendly but turn out to be dog tolerant. Not at Dalmunzie with Harris being made as welcome as we were. Obviusly we weren't in the main restaurant with him, but a super table was set up for us in the sun room with even better views. There is a super cosy bar area with a wonderful old worldly living room and an exceptionally good choice of whiskies (I'd forgotten how good Blair Athol was). The staff were so friedly and genuinely keen to help with anything that you could have needed. A special mention to Lisa who was such natural and friendly receptionist, bar person and front of house assitant. In one visit Dalmunzie Castle has gone from "I wonder what that place is like" to one of our favourite hotels in Scotland. Thank you and we'll be back.

This is a wonderful old scottish lairds manor house turned into a hotel. Hidden in a beautiful valley on a quiet road the hotel sits in a beautiful scenic area. The hotel itself reflects a bygone age but with modern upgrades to bedroom accommodation. The staff were very attentive from the moment we stepped into the hotel until we left. There is walkng access to the estate and even use of the carpark for non residents. Not fussy but overall a very welcoming hotel. with good food. It was wonderful to find this hotel in an area where the main roads were full of motorbikes and camptervans. It was far enough off the beaten track to allow the mountains of the Cairngorms to speak to the history of the area.. Ask the receptionist for her potted history of the hotel and estate, an really interesting read.

Super dog friendly. Staff were amazing, the right level of friendliness and loved the dogs, making a hug fuss every time they saw them. Food was excellent in both the restaurant and bar. The Castle Hotel is set in a stunning location with the cairngorms behind it and the vale of Glenshee in front. Our four poster bed was one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever slept in and the pillows were decent and not the wafer thin useless ones I often find in hotels. We will definitely be returning to this hotel as there is so much to see and do nearby and it is a great place to stay. Restaurant was able to accomodate my wife's Gluten intolerance really easily and she had a good choice from the menu as a result, again, many places she is limited to just 1 or 2 dishes.

It was such a pleasant hotel experience—especially the journey from the gate to the hotel. The sheep in the field seemed to welcome us, and the river flowing through the middle of the field added to the charm. The view was absolutely stunning—lush greenery everywhere. It genuinely took our breath away. There’s nothing negative to say at all. Everything was perfect! The dinner was so delicious and just the right quantity to satisfy our hungry stomachs. Breakfast was also lovely—and they even specially provided boiled eggs for us upon request. Such thoughtful service made our stay even more enjoyable!

We were a family group that stayed in the family suite situated in the finished attic space of the property. The suite was surprisingly spacious and the views out were lovely. The hide-away bed was reasonably comfortable, and it was nice that we still had a sofa and dining table to relax and enjoy. We enjoyed wonderful meals and attentive service throughout. We also enjoyed walking the adjacent golf course, taking in the scenery, and relaxing in the garden with drinks from the bar.
